The fifth grade class of Ms. Danielle Crawford spent the bulk of this semester in an interdisciplinary project learning about West Africa. From Math to Social Studies to African Dance class this group of students really went on a learning adventure touring West Africa! Students learned from the best as artists from the Alvin Ailey group helped them along their journey. Ms. Crawford challenged the students during math sessions and skillfully incorporated “Every Day Math” lessons with a West African flavor. The children not only entered a great math project in this year’s math fair which included African drums, tamborenes and other African based instruments but also took part in the Middle School Interdisciplinary Conference.
